It is thanks to Erik Croux and Annemie Van Laethem, artist and gallery owner/curator in OUd-Rekem, that the artistic legacy of Alex Elshocht has been preserved. For years, these collectors and exhibition makers have been organising summer presentations of contemporary art in the now unoccupied castle of OUd-Rekum. Around 1988, when he was clearing up there, Erik Croux stumbled upon some exceptional small workst spreak here and there on the floor and hanging on the walls. He took care of the panels, found out the namen of the maker, reconstructed the disintegrated releifs and put them in wooden box frames. Croux and Van Leathem have exhibited some of Elshocht's wood releifs in all their summer presentations in Oud-Rekum Castle in recent years. 0Exhibition: Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht, the Netherlands (12.10.2013-23.02.2014)
