  • Beschreibung: Structural engineering design rules given in modern standards are often based on the lower-bound theorem of the Theory of Plasticity. Hence, they rely on a sufficient deformation capacity of the structure and its components. This paper presents preliminary results of a test series of three two-span continuous slab strips reinforced with bars whose stress-strain characteristic exhibits a large ultimate strain, but hardly any strain hardening over a major part of the inelastic range. While the lack of strain hardening causes a pronounced strain localisation, the large ultimate strain of the reinforcing bars enables considerable ultimate deflections. Moment redistributions from the intermediate support section to the span are observed while the plastic hinge at the support softens. ; ISSN:2617-4820
