A system, diversified to all existing shutdown systems till now, is realizable an the Basis of gadolinium. At least the quantity of gadolinium given by the neutron-physical shutdown caIculations is bound adsorptively by the fuel elements. The quantity of gadolinium is as higher, as lower the fuel element temperature is during the Operation of the reactor. This refers as well to the shutdown with hydrous gadolinium solutions as well as to the shutdown with gaseous gadolinium compounds. Reactors shutdown with fluid neutron absorbers can be started up by well-fitting measures.
