  • Titel: The defence of Mr. Michael Moorhouse : written by himself. He travelled as a preacher in connection with the Rev. Mr. Wesley, fourteen years; but was suddenly turned out of that connection with contempt, without a hearing; and degraded not only in large cities and towns, but in some places from house to house among the methodists; that they should look upon him as a gazing stock, and as "one of the vilest wretches that ever was in the connection since methodism existed." The methodists were advised by the preachers to shut their doors against him, and many of them did so. He also mentions the crime for which he was so suddenly turned out and so universally degraded.
