<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>New records of clearwing moths (Sesiidae) from Australia are presented.<jats:italic>Trilochana smaragdina</jats:italic><jats:ext-link xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="#b5">Diakonoff 1954</jats:ext-link>was known only from a single female from West Papua (Irian Jaya). This species is redescribed here on the basis of a series of males recently collected in Queensland. It is the first record of the tribe Sesiini and the genus<jats:italic>Trilochana</jats:italic>for Australia. Males of another species,<jats:italic>Nokona carulifera</jats:italic>(<jats:ext-link xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="#b18">Hampson 1919</jats:ext-link>) comb. n., have been found for the first time at the same locality and are also characterised here.<jats:italic>Nokona coracodes</jats:italic>(<jats:ext-link xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="#b26">Turner 1922</jats:ext-link>) comb. n. is restored from synonymy. The genus<jats:italic>Pseudosesia</jats:italic><jats:ext-link xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href="#b12">Felder 1861</jats:ext-link>is redefined and restored from synonymy with<jats:italic>Paranthrene</jats:italic>Hübner [1819]. An updated checklist of the Sesiidae of Australia is presented.</jats:p>
