  • Beschreibung: <jats:p> <jats:italic>Chlamydomonas reinhardtii</jats:italic> Dangard has been widely adopted as a model system for studies of eukaryotic cilia and flagella. Here I review recent progress in understanding flagellar ultrastructure, the mechanisms that generate and regulate flagellar beating and gliding motility, the flagellar assembly process, basal body structure and function, and adhesion‐based signaling, all advanced by work with this single‐celled organism.</jats:p>
