  • Beschreibung:
A computer study has been made of the static and time-dependent behavior of a simple cubic lattice of classical spins interacting through nearest-neighbor Heisenberg forces. The initial conditions have been chosen by a Monte Carlo calculation which also yields the magnetization as a function of temperature. The classical equations of motion of the spins have then been solved numerically for arrays of varying sizes, up to 4096 spins and the pair correlation functions have been calculated using these solutions. The magnetization calculation yields a Curie temperature in good agreement with the prediction of Rushbrooke and Wood, which is based on an analysis of the series expansion for the free energy. Pair correlation functions for various temperatures and various separations show damped oscillatory dependence on time, and are generally complicated. Various special starting configurations not corresponding to thermal equilibrium have also been used.
