<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title>
<jats:p>The incidence of anastomotic leakage in esophagectomy and reconstruction surgery is reported over 10%. We have used subtotal stomach (SS) for reconstruction.</jats:p>
<jats:p>We retrospectively examined the results of SS reconstruction, postoperative weight changes, and quality of life. We have used SNS to deal with postoperative dietary problems. We also have devised a method for combined oral nutritional supplementation by the conceot of ‘Taking a ONS along with the meal by knowing appetite: Tanaka Method.</jats:p>
<jats:p>400 cases. Anastomotic leakage was found in 2 cases (0.50%). Many cases of early feeling of fullness were observed at 3 months. The patients’ body weights, median [interquartile range], were as follows: pretreatment, 54.1 [48.9,59.9] Kg: 12 months postoperatively, 52.75[47.5–59.15] Kg: 36 months postoperatively, 52.55[47.35–59.2] Kg: 60 months postoperatively, 51.2 [46.25,58.45] Kg.</jats:p>
<jats:p>SS reconstruction seems to be feasible.</jats:p>
