<jats:p>Streaming current monitors (SCM) are used to control coagulation by determining and maintaining proper coagulant dosages. By sending the streaming current signal to a microprocessor‐based process controller and then to the coagulant feeder, coagulant dosages can be automatically adjusted and maintained. The use of streaming current monitors for water treatment is described and operational considerations are addressed.</jats:p>
