<jats:p>In response to a surprise algae bloom in Standley Lake that quickly affected the taste and odor of the city of Westminster, Colorado's drinking water, Westminster's water quality department developed a particle imaging and analysis system to safeguard drinking water from taste‐and‐odor events. The system provides a complete view of how the entire system is working at all times, allowing treatment personnel to reduce algae growth and to remediate with a holistic approach that has less impact.</jats:p>
