A secondary purpose was to present a systematic procedure for carrying out internal construct validity studies in any testing instrument. Construct validation using confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the CSAP instrument reliably measured what it purported to measure, and five of its six subscales provided sufficiently unique information to make it a useful tool for program and/or individual diagnosis.
