<jats:title>ABSTRACT</jats:title><jats:p>This paper addresses the issue of what types of analysis might be best for analyzing the interaction the system under question with relation to its external systems during the requirements development process. We examine process or functional modeling as well as behavioral or state modeling. The effort employs academic case studies and a survey of practicing systems engineers.</jats:p>
