<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Formulating a sound architecture has become one of the most important elements in systems engineering, software engineering and systems integration. Significant work has been done in the architecting of systems and, mostly as a separate matter, the architecting of software. This paper focuses upon the issue of a unified approach to both systems and software architecting. A specific procedure for a unified method is suggested and illustrated.</jats:p>
