<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Some puzzling features of a published mass spectrum of the title compound have been clarified by mass spectrometric study of a specimen prepared by a new route, by coupling <jats:italic>O,O</jats:italic>′‐diacetylcaffeoyl chloride with <jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐monoacetylputrescine.</jats:p>
