<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The problem of the optimization of local model pseudopotentials (m.p.) is considered. Some aspects of optimization are discussed to stress the importance for a local m.p. to be optimized. An optimization criterion for local m.p. is suggested. To illustrate the “relative optimalness” of various local pseudopotentials the parameters of several ones were found from the same “fitting” equation and the values of the optimization criteria calculated.</jats:p>
