AbstractBei Gebäudehüllen lassen sich gegenwärtig zwei gegensätzliche Trends beobachten: Passive und aktive Konzepte. Passive Gebäudehüllen schotten den Innenraum so weit wie möglich gegen äußere Einflüsse ab. Zeitgemäße Gebäudetechnik sorgt für behagliche Raumbedingungen. Im zweiten Fall reagieren aktive Komponenten der Gebäudehülle zielgerichtet auf wechselnde äußere und innere Bedingungen. Dabei wird angestrebt, den Einsatz der Gebäudetechnik zu minimieren. Es zeigt sich, dass rein passive Gebäudehüllen gegenüber aktiven Konzepten nur dann Vorteile bieten, wenn der Standort, die Höhe oder die Nutzung des Gebäudes die natürliche Lüftung sowie Solarenergie‐ und Tageslichtnutzung in mindestens zwei Dritteln des Jahres ausschließen.Motion in the building envelope? Comparison of passive and active concepts. Two opposing trends can currently be observed with building envelopes: passive and active concepts. Passive building envelopes seal off the interior from external factors as far as possible. Contemporary building technology ensures a comfortable interior environment. Conversely, active components of the building envelope respond specifically to changing internal and external conditions. The aim here is to minimise the use of building technology. It shows that purely passive building envelopes are only advantageous when compared to active components if the location, the height or the use of the building excludes natural ventilation, as well as solar energy and use of natural light for at least two‐thirds of the year.
