  • Beschreibung: <jats:title>A<jats:sc>bstract</jats:sc> </jats:title> <jats:p>The ALICE experiment at the LHC has studied J/<jats:italic>ψ</jats:italic> production at mid-rapidity in pp collisions at <jats:inline-formula> <jats:tex-math>$ \sqrt{s}=7 $</jats:tex-math> </jats:inline-formula> TeV through its electron pair decay on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity <jats:italic>L</jats:italic> <jats:sub>int</jats:sub> = 5<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>6 nb<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup>. The fraction of J/<jats:italic>ψ</jats:italic> from the decay of long-lived beauty hadrons was determined for J/<jats:italic>ψ</jats:italic> candidates with transverse momentum <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> <jats:sub>t</jats:sub> <jats:italic>&gt;</jats:italic> 1<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>3 GeV/<jats:italic>c</jats:italic> and rapidity |<jats:italic>y</jats:italic>| <jats:italic>&lt;</jats:italic> 0<jats:italic>.</jats:italic>9. The shape of the <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> <jats:sub>t</jats:sub> and <jats:italic>y</jats:italic> distributions of b-quarks predicted by perturbative QCD model calculations are used to extrapolate the measured cross section to derive the <jats:inline-formula> <jats:tex-math>$ \mathrm{b}\overline{\mathrm{b}} $</jats:tex-math> </jats:inline-formula> pair total cross section and d<jats:italic>σ/</jats:italic>d<jats:italic>y</jats:italic> at mid-rapidity.</jats:p>
