<jats:p>Synthesis of a new solid solution (Ta,Ti)<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>C<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>T<jats:sub><jats:italic>x</jats:italic></jats:sub> MXene from the new quaternary (Ta,Ti)<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>AlC<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> MAX phase system, with variable Ti : Ta ratios, has been demonstrated.</jats:p>
