<jats:p>Renal excretion of sodium and water as well as urinary kallikrein excretion were measured after acute and chronic renal denervation in the anaesthetized rat. Although a significant denervation diuresis and natriuresis was observed in all experiments, kallikrein excretion rates in the intact and denervated kidneys were similar. The results seem to indicate that the kallikrein-kinin system is not involved in the denervation phenomenon and that basal kallikrein secretion is not influenced by the sympathetic nervous system.</jats:p>
