<jats:p>The psychotherapies can be defined as method of as therapeutic procedures based on different theoretical and technical concepts, conceived to help the patient to cope with his/her emotional, cognitive and behavioral problems. The present study aims are: a) to review the main technical and theoretical concepts associated with psychotherapy, especially those based on psychoanalytic/psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral theoretical concepts and, b) to discuss some peculiarities of the psychotherapy of groups. This material is intented to be used as a reference to beginners students of this field of knowledge as well as others specialties of the health-related context</jats:p>
