Beschreibung:
Johan Asplund holds an exceptional position in Swedish sociology. Although widely read, his books do not fit the normal scientific pattern, which makes him into something of a riddle to many sociologists. In this essay, I consider Asplund's work as a whole, sketch the progression of central ideas and portray his way of working. I also attempt to characterize Johan Asplund's position in Swedish sociology, and to delineate some of its consequences for the reception of his work.
