<jats:p>There are two widely used programs for plotting molecular structures for publication purposes: <jats:italic>PLUTO</jats:italic> [Motherwell (1970). University Chem. Lab., Cambridge, England] and <jats:italic>ORTEP</jats:italic> [Johnson (1965). Report ORNL-3794. Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee]. A program <jats:italic>PLORTEP</jats:italic> has been written which joins the best features of these two programs. <jats:italic>PLUTO</jats:italic> has an English-like set of instructions which are easy to learn and use, while <jats:italic>ORTEP</jats:italic> produces very high quality pictures.</jats:p>
