<jats:p><jats:bold>Summary</jats:bold> The south‐western Chinese balsam <jats:italic>Impatiens forrestii</jats:italic> Hook.f. & W.W. Sm, endemic to NW Yunnan and SW Sichuan, is described and illustrated. Its taxonomy, ecology, pollination and cultivation requirements are briefly discussed.</jats:p>
