<jats:p>A p-t-butylcalix[4]arene bearing four redox-active phenylenediamine pendant groups on the lower rim was synthesized and characterized spectroscopically and electrochemically. The interconversion of the oxidation states of the pendant groups was demonstrated both chemically and electrochemically.</jats:p>
