  • Beschreibung:
This essay takes the diagrammatic formulations of trauma and networks that are both presented and critiqued in Tom McCarthy's 2005 novel Remainder as the occasion to sketch some elements of a methodology for critical analysis in the age of computational thinking. By locating a relationship between two particular figures—the loop and the network diagram—and by grounding this relationship in the material and imaginative conditions through which abstract diagrams come to shape social conditions, the essay addresses the epistemic logic that connects certain modes of cultural analysis to the digital logic of recent political economy.
