<jats:p>There has been a tendency to treat the design and evaluation of CAL materials from too narrow a perspective. Some insights from other disciplines are shown to be relevant and difficulties inherent in evaluation of CAL materials are pointed out. Designers and evaluators need to develop new skills and awareness to meet the requirements of interactive media.</jats:p>
