<jats:p>3-Amino-3-deoxy sugars [1] are essential substructures of a wide variety of biologically active natural products exemplified in aminocyclitols, [2] macrolides [3] or anthracyclin antibiotics [4], With this respect, the transformations of common and readily available carbohydrates are of special interest. In this communication we want to line out a short route for the incorporation of a vicinal cis hydroxyl-amino function in the pyranose moiety.</jats:p>
