<jats:sup>+</jats:sup>NO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>
<jats:sup>-</jats:sup> . With AsCl<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> chlorine nitrate forms a compound of the analytical composition “AsCl<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(NO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>” in contrast to SbCl<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>, which does not react with ClONO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>. The reaction of ClONO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> with AsCl<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>
<jats:sup>+</jats:sup>AsF<jats:sub>6</jats:sub>
<jats:sup>-</jats:sup> was reported to yield As(ONO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>)<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>
<jats:sup>+</jats:sup>AsF<jats:sub>6</jats:sub>
<jats:sup>-</jats:sup>. We found no reaction below 273 K. Reaction at 293 K yields NO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>
<jats:sup>+</jats:sup>AsF<jats:sub>6</jats:sub>
<jats:sup>-</jats:sup> as solid product. SbCl<jats:sub>5</jats:sub> does react, but the reaction yields no reproduceable products.</jats:p>
