  • Beschreibung:
Improving the interoperability of forest enterprise resource planning systems with standards
To ensure forestry, the timber industry and their products are competitive, flexible and time-optimized logistics processes are necessary. These, in turn, require a fast, safe and efficient flow of information, for which IT-based enterprise resource planning systems (ERP) provide an essential basis. ERP systems are increasingly being used in the forestry-wood-products chain. ERP systems that can work together beyond their original application range are needed for an efficient information flow. Because of the heterogeneity of these systems, simple and clear standards must be defined at the interfaces. That means the computers have to use the same language not only technically but also from the point of view of the content to be communicated. The following article analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the four standardization efforts Eldat, FHPDAT, Papinet and Cosemat and derives some initial recommendations for further developments.
