  • Beschreibung: The article is devoted to the problems of development of the agricultural sector of the economy, characterized by small-scale livestock farming. The study of this sector shows not only its importance for the agro-industrial complex, but also for the development of small business. Small-scale livestock farming remains a significant element in the food security system. The reduction of agri-food chains, as shown by the lockdown caused by the 2020 coronavirus crisis, is a significant threat to the country’s food security. Logistics restrictions, coupled with the underdevelopment of local food production capacities, have led to the emergence of imbalances in the field of food security. The authors identified an imbalance in the structure of consumption of meat and meat products by the population. The current importance of the small-scale livestock sector for ensuring the country's food security has been determined. Measures for the development of the sector of the economy under consideration are proposed by realizing the potential of the sphere of technological development.
