  • Beschreibung: The figure of Prometheus plays an important role in 20th century Polish thought and literature. In his youth, Jerzy Giedroyc, the founder of Kultura, belonged to the Promethean Movement. Leszek Kolakowski gave the following conclusion to his reflections on the fate of Marxism : "Prometheus wakes up from his dreams of power as Kafka's Gregor Samsa. " Jan Kott, in his Eating of the Gods, reflects on the ambiguity of the images of Prometheus. Gustaw Herling revisits Kafka's four versions of the myth of Prometheus and adds one of his own. Zbigniew Herbert describes his vision of old Prometheus.
