  • Beschreibung:
From the end of the 3rd century to the end of the lrst century BC, inscriptions and graffiti with Greek letters on pottery flourish on several indigenous sites of Southern Gaul. They consist in full or abbreviated names, being interpreted as owners « marks » but at Lattes, two abecedaries attest learning of writing. The paper discusses the eventuality that it may reveal the use of the Greek language rather than of Gaulish, and the signification of the late appropriation of this tool by the Celts of Southern Gaul (an affirmation of identity), and the reality of its distribution (a popular writing ?).
Translation : Isabelle Fauduet
