• Beschreibung:
Flader, Dieter and Thilo von Trotha - "Language without action, a method without implication in dayly life. The dilemma of ehnomethodology".
Conein's response (L&S n° 54) to these author's article (n° 48) did not directly tackle their main argument : ethnomethodology 's hidden positivism. The authors examine here: indexicality and its relation to reflexivity and sel-interpretation ; how radical contextualization leads to a form of positivism ; the relation between knowledge about action and its accomplishment ; language action and its linguistic dimensions. The concept of account is inadequate to explain meaning, contextualization tends to exclude the content of interactions and the exclusivity given to accomplishment disconnects the notion of action from its aims and means. To overcome these difficulties without denying the real problems they attempt to solve, the authors propose the use of pragmatc linguistics.
