Beschreibung:
The paper presents a die-study of the gold coins issued by Philip I, Otacilia Severa and Philip II, based on a corpus of 236 specimens. The 23 specimens with findspots are discussed, as is the structure of issues and the metrology of the coinage. The paper shows that the volume of production was similar to that under Trajan, Hadrian and Antoninus Pius, although Philip’s coins are much rarer as finds than 2nd century issues.
