Abstract : Denudation has been regularly monitored for the last six years in the badlands of the southern Baronnies, in the southern French Alps. Several plots, selected to represent different characteristics (lithology, tectonics, exposure), were fitted with markers. The results obtained, which are generally in agreement with those of other authors, show that denudation varies considerably as a function of situation. In interfluvial areas and on the upper sections of the sides of gullies, denudation is found to affect the entire surface, while on lower sections, and especially at the bot- tom of gullies, areas of denudation alternate with areas of accumulation. These differences can be explained by the changes in morphogenetic characteristics depending on the season.
