<jats:p>1973 : an unusual drought in the Eastern Pyrenees. — In the Eastern Pyrenees, the year 1973 was notable for a raintall far smaller than that of the last twenty years, though the synoptical situations have not suffered any change. The altitudinal convergence above the region has simply occurred less frequently than usual, thanks to which the effects of orographie shelter have been able to work efficiently. The mediterranean disturbances which have affected the coastal area in Languedoc and Provence Have not brought the usual amount of precipitation in spring and in autumn.</jats:p>
