<jats:p>ANDRE GRELON, FRANÇOISE CHAMOZZI The aim of this article is a presentation of Polish engineers' professional situation, supported by an inquiry made in 1987 by two Polish sociologists. We have a representative sample of 3800 engineers working in 83 industrial firms. Therefore we shall find collection of quantitative data as the first step in an exchange of information about the concrete reality of life for this socio-profession nal category. These data account for general caracteristics of this population, for the evolution of its professional situation, but also for engineers' opinions about their professional situation, their firms and the state of Polish industry and technology. </jats:p>
