  • Beschreibung: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The L<jats:sub>p</jats:sub>-norm convergence of weighted averages <jats:italic>μ<jats:sub>n</jats:sub>f</jats:italic> is ergodic theory is equivalent to the pointwise convergence of the Fourier transforms <jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="gif" xlink:type="simple" xlink:href="S0008414X00045053_inline01" />. If <jats:italic>h</jats:italic>(γ) = <jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="gif" xlink:type="simple" xlink:href="S0008414X00045053_inline02" />, then the behavior of <jats:italic>h</jats:italic> determines when the <jats:italic>L<jats:sub>p</jats:sub></jats:italic>-norm limit of <jats:italic>μ<jats:sub>n</jats:sub>f</jats:italic> is ∫<jats:italic>f dm</jats:italic>. The nature of such limit functions <jats:italic>h</jats:italic> is the focus of this article.</jats:p>
