<jats:p>This contribution explores the question to what extent Christopher Alexander’s pattern approach or pattern theory can be used as a potential concept for designing a network for sustainable cooperation of vocational schools in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. The core idea is to show how Alexander’s approach can be transferred from architecture to the conceptual planning and design of a community of practice for innovative teacher education, which aims to exchange experiences and information in the field of (high) school VET and to support each other to enable joint learning. The aim is to create a kind of lyophilizate for theoretical and practical implications and for further in-depth research.</jats:p>
