<jats:p>This article gives an account of an eye-tracking experiment carried out during a workshop at Lund University, where the overall question was, "how does film music affect meaning?" The pilot experiment was conducted on an exploratory basis, and in this article, the tentative results and possible usefulness of laboratory experiments are discussed.</jats:p>
