• Beschreibung:
The paper presents an operationalization of the behavioural matrix introduced in Pred's "Behavior and Location". The two basic concepts of the matrix concern, i) the entrepreneur's ability to use information, and ii) the quantity and quality of the information at his disposal. The present paper examines the assumptions behind these concepts which are then operationalized using empirical material concerning small sawmill entrepreneurs in North Karelia, Finland. Pred's theory of behaviour and location criticizes normative location theories and the assumptions upon which they are based. The operationalized matrix presented here supports the behavioural assumptions that entrepreneurs are often boundedly rational and satisficers in the running of their firms.
