<p>Harish-Chandra defined a homomorphism δ: D(g)<sup>G</sup>→ D(h)<sup>W</sup>of algebras of invariant polynomial differential operators. The construction and existence of δ are somewhat mysterious. We show how δ naturally arises when one considers matters in the context of D-modules.</p>
