Beschreibung:
The archaeological excavations done by Père Delattre at the end of the XlXth c. within the amphitheatre of Carthage brought to light more than two hundred Roman inscriptions. Some of them were engraved on reserved places occupied by leading citizens and aristocrats of the city. Published in the CIL, those epigraphic documents did not concern scholars until now. Nevertheless, they inform us on the organization of the Carthaginian curie at the end of IVth - beginning of Vth c. They give as well some new informations on the senatorial élite of the city.
Les fouilles archéologiques que le Père Delattre avait entreprises à la fin du XIXe siècle dans l'amphithéâtre de Carthage permirent de découvrir plus de deux cents inscriptions. Un certain nombre d'entre elles étaient gravées sur les places réservées qu'occupaient les notables et les aristocrates de la cité. Publié dans le CIL, ce dossier épigraphique n'a que peu intéressé les historiens, alors qu 'il nous renseigne sur la structure de la curie carthaginoise à la fin du IVe siècle et au début du Ve siècle ap. J.-C. Il livre également un certain nombre de nouveautés sur l'élite sénatoriale de la cité.
