Le bassin de l'Ubaye est caractérisé par la simplicité et la constance des cortèges argileux des roches, sols et sédiments. Ces faits, déterminés principalement par l'importance du métamorphisme pour les roches et par la discrétion des altérations pour les sols, s'opposent à la diversité des associations déterminées dans le proche Haut-Verdon.
The characteristic of Ubaye's basin (Alpes of Haute-Provence) is the simplicity and the invariability of the clay associations of rocks, soils and fluvial sediments. These facts, chiefly determined by the importance of metamorphism for rocks, and by the weakness of weathering for soils, are opposed to the diversity of clay associations identified in the near Haut-Verdon.
