Funerary archeology and anthropology : the predynastic cemetery of Adaima. 65 graves have been excavated in the predynastic cemetery of Adaima, which cover the Nagada period. An anthropological approach has been undertaken, which allowed to reconsider the question of mortuary practices and put new light on the problem of cannibalism. These first results establish the archeological potentiality of Adaima and allow to recognize the importance of the field anthropology for a better understanding of ancient cemeteries.
Le cimetière prédynastique d’Adaïma a livré 65 sépultures réparties sur l’ensemble de l’époque nagadienne. Une approche anthropologique des tombes a été entreprise et a permis de reconsidérer la question des gestes et pratiques funéraires, en soulevant également le problème du cannibalisme prédynastique. Ces premiers résultats confirment la potentialité archéologique du site d’Adaïma et l’apport de l’anthropologie de terrain à une meilleure compréhension des ensembles funéraires.
