Crypticerya genistae (Hempel), a new danger to Guadeloupe (Hemiptera, Coccoidea, Monophlebidae). Crypticerya genistae is discussed from Guadeloupe feeding on 37 host plants belonging to eight plant families. The most important families are the Asteraceae, Euphorbiaceae and, in particular, the Leguminosae. No single cultivated plant species is infested yet but it will be important to follow the spread of the scale because of its high fecundity and because it might infest cultivated plants. The only natural enemy of the scale in Guadeloupe found presently is the ladybird Rodolia cardinalis.
Crypticerya genistae est signalé de Guadeloupe sur 37 plantes réparties dans huit familles botaniques. Ce sont les Asteraceae, les Euphorbiaceae et surtout les Leguminosae qui semblent le mieux convenir à son développement. Aucune plante cultivée n’a été infestée à ce jour. Il convient cependant de suivre avec attention l’extension de cette Cochenille dont la fécondité est élevée et qui pourrait s’avérer très dangereuse si elle passait sur certaines cultures. Le seul ennemi naturel observé actuellement sur cette cochenille est la coccinelle Rodolia cardinalis.
