Die örtliche Entwicklung, aufstrebender Denk-und Aktionsprozeß, interessiert den Geographen insofern als sie territoriale Begriffe enthält. Im Begriff des Lokalen können drei Dimensionen unterschieden werden, die lokaler Ressourcen, die identischen von Land und Stadtviertel, und schließlich die der örtlichen Demokratie. Bei der ersten Dimension sollte aufgezeigt werden, welche geistigen Strömungen und welche Aktoren bei der lokalen Entwicklung in der ländlichen und städtischen Umgebung eine Rolle spielen und welche Verwirklichungen beobachtet werden konnten. Die Unterschiede in der Natur und die Bedeutung der tragenden Strömungen und in der Abweichung des theoretischen Inhalts von den Verwirklichungen, erlaubten es zugleich die Übereinstimmungen und die Besonderheiten dieser beiden beiden Milieus zu definieren.
Local development, everchanging trends of thought and action are of interest to the geographer to the extent that they involve territorial notions. Three dimensions can be distinguished in the notion of «local» : local resources, identity with country or region and, lastly, local democracy. As far as the first dimension is concerned, the study focuses on the trends of thought and people involved in local development in both rural and urban areas and on the results achieved. Differences of degree and kind in major currents of thought and in the gap between theoretical content and achievements allow the author to define both the convergences and the specificities of rural and urban areas.
Le développement local, mouvement de pensée et d’action en plein renouveau, intéresse le géographe dans la mesure où il implique des notions territoriales. Dans la notion de local, trois dimensions peuvent être distinguées, celle de ressources locales, celle identitaire du pays ou du quartier, enfin celle de démocratie locale. Pour la première dimension, on s’est attaché à montrer quels courants de pensée et quels acteurs étaient impliqués dans le développement local en milieu rural et en milieu urbain, et quelles réalisations pouvaient être observées. Les différences dans la nature et l’importance des courants porteurs et dans l’écart entre le contenu théorique et les réalisations ont permis de définir à la fois des convergences et des spécificités de ces deux milieux.
Por implicar nociones territoriales, el desarrollo local, en pleno auge, es importante para la geografía. En tanto que noción, lo local contiene tres dimensiones : los recursos, la identidad, la democracia. ¿Qué corrientes de pensamiento, qué actores están implicados en el desarrollo local en los ámbitos rural y urbano, y cuáles son las realizaciones ? La diversidad de las corrientes importantes, la diferencia entre el contenido teórico y su aplicación revelan las convergencias y las especificidades de dichos ámbitos.
