Une prospection a entraîné la découverte à Correns (Var) d'un site rendu particulier par l'absence de structures bâties et la composition de son mobilier. Ce dernier se compose pour l'essentiel de jetons en plomb, incisés, de monnaies et de céramiques (tournés majoritairement et de petits formats), le tout réparti sur environ 600 m2. Après une analyse du contexte archéologique de la Préhistoire à l'époque médiévale et la recherche de comparaisons, l'auteur suggère la présence en ce lieu d'un sanctuaire (sans doute modeste et peut-être en limites de peuples). Il serait fréquenté du IVe s. av. J.-C. au début du IVe s. de n. è., avec un accroissement sous le Haut Empire romain.
Prospecting has resulted in the discovery, near Correns (Var), of a site which is distinguished by the absence of built structures and the composition of the material found. The latter mainly consists of lead chips with incisions, coins and pottery (mainly made on the wheel and small-sized), spread out altogether over an area of 600 m2. After analysis of the archaeological context from Prehistory to the Middle Ages and searching objects for comparison, the author suggests the presence of a sanctuary (no doubt modest and perhaps on the boundary between tribes) on this spot. It is supposed to have been in use from the IVth c. B.C. to the beginning of the IVth c. AD. with a peak under the Early Roman Empire.
