The marble quarries of Cape Tainaron: geography and history. Though they have been studied almost exclusively for the Roman era, the marble quarries of Cape Tainaron and Mani peninsula had been important from the early Archaic period. Focusing on economic relationships within a multi-scale geographical analysis, the present study intends to propose a chronological framework concerning the exploitation of these quarries from the sixth century BC to the second century BC, after which the area fell under Roman domination.
