Beschreibung:
The flora of the White Zemmour (Western Sahara) is characterized by a high proportion of the floristical elements of the mediterranean-saharian sindian connection and by some noticeable endemic species. Its vegetation is characterized by the juxtaposition of two formations usually disjointed in the northern algerian Sahara : the Arthrophytum scoparium shruby steppe and the Acacia-Panicum woody steppe. The first one is elective of the per-aride thermomediterranean bioclimate, the second one of the eremic saharian bioclimate. This juxtaposition can only be explained by the late quaternary climatic and chorologic changes because, presently, the per-aride thermomediterranean climate could not be suitable to this woody steppe.
La flore du Zemmour blanc (Sahara occidental) est caractérisée par une forte proportion de l’élément floristique de liaison méditerranéo-saharo sindienne et par quelques endémiques remarquables ; la végétation par la juxtaposition de deux formations habituellement disjointes au Sahara septentrional algérien : la steppe buissonneuse à Arthrophytum scoparium et la steppe arborée à Acacia-Panicum. La première est élective du Thermoméditerranéen per-aride, la seconde de l’érémique saharien. Cette juxtaposition ne peut s’expliquer que par les variations climatiques et chorologiques du Quaternaire récent, car actuellement le climat thermoméditerranéen per-aride ne saurait convenir à cette steppe arborée.
